George is a chauffeur - cum dogsbody in the household of Colonel Maynard who can't recruit a housekeeper because George can't keep his hands to himself. George has a plan to get his cousin the vacancy but is caught unawares when Gabrielle Dragon arrives and tells him firmly that she has been engaged and means to stay. All sorts of antics ensue as George tries to rid himself of the Dragon.
