An astounding success for ITV on its original transmission, Please, Sir! featured John Alderton as Bernard Hedges, a newly-qualified teacher thrown in at the deep end when he is assigned to sort out the unruly class 5C at Fenn Street Secondary Modern School. Ably helped by his fellow teachers Doris Ewell and Mr. Price, he has to combat the wiles of school caretaker Norman Potter and the full might of Class 5C!
